Recently, I got a major allergic reaction to a new cream and I want to share the things that saved my face, just in time for Nicole's makeup exam lol I was absolutely clueless about what to do and my sis recommended these to me.
1. First up is Efficort cream. Applied this directly on the affected area twice a day. This helped a little but there was no miracle.
2. Zyrtec (I think this is the brand?), an antihistamine, twice a day as well. This gave better results than the cream.
3. Drink lots of water to flush away whatever that caused the allergic reaction.
4. Minimize the number of products I use on my face, especially possible irritants and unnecessary ones like anti-aging & whitening (missing a few days won't hurt). I think I only used the Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Lotion for the first few days.
5. I think this is obvious enough : stop using all new products! If you are determined to find out which product caused it, use each new product alone (together with your trusted regular skincare, of course) and see if your skin reacts. I'm not sure if I dare to reuse the cream again though.. x.x
6. Please don't scratch.. I was lucky that my allergy wasn't itchy but in my sister's experience, scratching makes it worse! I've even heard of a case in Korea where this boy had a skin allergy and went to seek traditional help. The 'doctor' scraped his skin in a 'healing process' without knowing that he was actually spreading it. He ended up having some kinda skin disease where the skin loses elasticity and will tear easily *shivers*
ooh this was really helpful, thank you! i have sensitive skin and i easily get allergic to products :( i can't help but scratch when they're itchy! i have cream like the efficort one. i think i'll try zyrtec
