Coffee & Healthy Food in KL @ Signature Cafearo, 1 Shamelin

Dropped by Signature Cafearo by Yves located in 1 Shamelin Shopping Mall for a lunch session with le Bf and my girls. At the main entrance with Share Tea, Wong Kok and Old Town, follow the path at Old Town and you'll find it. If you're looking for cheap, healthy food around KL or PJ, you should check this place out.

I like the environment here. Very chillax and bright. It's a great place to bring friends or family. My favourite is the bright sofa area but there are also proper tables. I counted 6 plug-points indoors so you can bring a laptop and work here xD

Hazelnut Cafe Latte
Being a coffee addict, my choice was obvious. Coffee places have been mushrooming all over the place but I didn't fancy any because they charged a ridiculous fee for a cup of watered down coffee. This, however, was reasonably priced and had the perfect balance of coffee and milk without being too sweet.

Oreo Mint Ice Cream Milkshake (RM 8), Honey Cafe Latte (RM 7) and an array of fruit/vegetable juices (RM 7) are also available here. I was sick so I didn't try any of the other drinks =( According to Elie and Tania, they were good xD

Smoked Duck Pesto Fettuccine
I have been going crazy over this dish ever since I ate it. The smoked duck is heavenly! Each spoonful melts into a smokey aroma that makes you wish for more. It's as awesome as bacon, except it's not bacon because Signature Cafearo is a pork-free establishment. Pasta was perfectly timed to give it just enough chew.

Oceanic Secret Night
If you're not a fan of duck, this is equally as good! The pasta was cooked with black olive paste and was so flavourful. The chef didn't just sprinkle some olives on top. You could taste the olive in every. single. bite. As a fan of olives, I really loved this dish.

Vast Ocean Salmon Salad
A healthy choice of greens drizzled with sour mayo. It has a generous serving of thick, juicy smoked salmon to complement the cherry tomatoes, capers, onions, asparagus, pumpkin seeds, lettuce and cucumber. Who says salads are boring?

Soft Shell Crab + Ham Cheese Bake Egg Rice
I usually avoid these cheese baked rice stuff because they're so oily and filling. However, this one was definitely not too oily. They even topped the cheese with some greens to provide some balance. And of course.. a whole soft shell crab instead of just tiny chunks *drools*

Roasted Mushroom Soup
Not your usual canned instant mushroom soup! Instead of a creamy paste with bits of mushroom here and there, this is so rich with mushrooms! Each spoonful is so satisfying, I wish I had space for more.

Smoked Salmon & Spinach Quiche
I guess the name of this dish is pretty self explanatory. My only complain would be there isn't enough salmon cos I LOVE the salmon! No.. Actually, I'll never have enough of it xD It's labeled as a side dish but it's honestly quite big.

Summer Angel
An interesting combination, providing different textures. If you're not such a 'green' person, you can opt for this salad with pineapple, honey chicken, bell pepper, papaya, apple, raisins, cashew nuts, sundried tomatoes, and lettuce. That white thingy (it's like crunchy mihun) on top looked pretty interesting too..

Soft Shell Crab Mustard Mayo Wrap
I absolutely love soft shell crab! Seafood is tricky as they get that fishy taste if they're not fresh. Well, I'm glad to tell you that the ones at Signature Cafearo are really fresh. The crab was very juicy and 'sweet' too. It's also nice to see potato wedges instead of frozen French fries.

Pavlova
A crispy sweet base that melts in your mouth topped with cream and fruits of your choice. Pick from grapes, strawberries or pomegranates. I chose the latter because it's such a rare option on local pastries! The combination was interesting and not too sweet. Can I have more please??

Coffee Cheese Cake
The cake for coffee lovers! Smooth creamy cheesecake infused with the aroma of coffee. Perfect!

Carrot Cake
Finally a carrot cake that isn't too sweet - hate it when that happens.. I'm generally not a fan of carrot cakes but the girls liked it =)

Some of the other desserts that I did not try. I was pleasantly surprised that the prices were in the range of RM 2 per piece. Finally a cafe that does not hike up their prices like crazy.

All of the above were masterpieces of the talented Chef Yves. Absolutely delicious! I'm loving the fact that they use quality ingredients like olive oil, salmon, olives etc. in their food. The dishes are also not overly oily, salty or sweet. This is because Signature Cafearo is all about healthy but tasty food. The prices are also very reasonable for the kind of food they serve. There is a wide array of Western, local and fusion food so they'll have something for everyone. Even the drinks menu has much to offer.
