I'm gonna be realll honest in this review. I do prefer the original Chinese dim sum taste but some of these were pretty good! The dishes were tweaked to be Halal and suit Malay palates while maintaining as much of the original dish as they could.
Classic handcrafted dishes prepared by Sifu Lee and his team like the siew mai, minced meat dumplings and har gow are all available here! The selection is actually quite good for Halal dim sum. There is a selection of assorted Chee Cheong Fun, featuring the chef’s recommended Honey BBQ Chee Cheong Fun. We basically sapu-ed the chee cheong fun; must eat with the chilli! 👍🏻
They served 4 types of Thai boat noodles here - Nam Tok (rich dark beef broth), Khao Soi (spicy coconut curry broth), Tom Yum (hot & sour broth) and Nam Sai (intense chicken broth). Unfortunately, none appealed to me as they tasted like something out of a Maggi packet.
Crispy fried som tam is ok if you enjoy tempura texture. However, we found the sauce to taste kinda odd. The Gai Pad Prik Pao (chicken wings) comes with rice and portion is quite filling.
Final verdict?
As a Chinese, I have better options elsewhere but for Malays and people who don't consume pork, this is a good Halal alternative! Wouldn't mind having the fried radish cake, woh tip and custard bun again.
